Thiru Devanar Thogai, in the Keezhachalai area of Thirunangur, is a Divya Desam where the Lord is worshipped as Deiva Nayaga Perumal, standing with Sridevi and Bhudevi, his processional form being Madhava Perumal; the Goddess is enshrined separately as Kadalmagal Nachiyar (Deivanayaki Thayar), with Madhava Nayaki as her utsava form. The temple stands on the southern bank of the river Manni, a branch of the Kaveri. Its name arises from the great divine assembly here: when Lord Narayana wedded Goddess Lakshmi, who had emerged from the Thiruparkadal (the ocean of milk), the Devas (Thevar) gathered in a great group, a thogai in Tamil, to witness the celestial marriage, and so the place became Thiru Thevanar Thogai. The temple also shares the common Thirunangur legend in which Vishnu manifested in eleven forms to pacify the furious Shiva after the loss of his consort at Daksha's sacrifice, the eleven forms being likened to the Ekadasa Rudras. According to the local purana, the sage Vasishta meditated upon and worshipped Madhava Perumal here and received his grace. The shrine is glorified by Thirumangai Alvar, who composed ten pasurams (a thirumozhi) in its praise within the Naalayira Divya Prabandham.

Thirudevanarthogai (Deiva Nayaga / Madhava Perumal Temple, Keezhachalai near Thirunangur) is one of the eleven Thirunangur Tirupathis. It was sung only by Thirumangai Alvar, who gave it a full decade of ten pasurams in his Periya Thirumozhi (fourth centum), enumerated as Divya Prabandham pasurams 1248-1257. During the annual Thirunangur Garuda Sevai / Thirumangai Alvar Mangalasasana Utsavam, the Alvar's festival image is carried to all eleven shrines and the respective decade is recited here.
போதலர்ந்த பொழில்சோலைப் புறமெங்கும் பொருதிரைகள் தாதுதிர வந்தலைக்கும் தடமண்ணித் தென்கரைமேல் மாதவன்றா னுறையுமிடம் வயல்நாங்கை வரிவண்டு தேதெனவென் றிசைபாடும் திருத்தேவ னார்தொகையே.

The place where Madhavan (the Lord) graciously resides is Thiru Devanar Thogai, on the southern bank of the broad river Manni, whose surging waves wash all around the blossom-laden flower-groves, scattering their pollen; here in the fields of Nangai the striped bees hum their music, singing 'thE-thena'.
யாவருமாய் யாவையுமாய் எழில்வேதப் பொருள்களுமாய் மூவருமாய் முதலாய மூர்த்தி அமர்ந்து உறையுமிடம், மாவரும் திண்படை மன்னை வென்றிகொள்வார் மன்னுநாங்கை தேவரும் சென்று இறைஞ்சுபொழில் திருத்தேவனார்தொகையே.
yāvarumāy yāvaiyumāy eḻil vēdap poruḷgaḷumāy mūvarumāy mudalāya mūrtti amarndu uṟaiyumiḍam, māvarum thiṇpaḍai mannai venṟikoḷvār mannunāngai dēvarum senṟu iṟaiñjupoḻil thiruththēvanārthogaiyē.
The place where the Lord, who is all beings and all things, who is the meaning of the beautiful Vedas, who is the source standing as the three (the trimurti) abides, is Thiru Devanar Thogai — in fertile Nangai of the victorious warriors with their strong armies and steeds — the grove to which even the devas themselves come and bow in worship.
காரார்ந்த திருமேனிக் கண்ணனமர்ந் துறையுமிடம் சீரார்ந்த பொழில்நாங்கைத் திருத்தேவ னார்தொகைமேல் கூரார்ந்த வேற்கலியன் கூறுதமிழ் பத்தும்வல்லார் ஏரார்ந்த வைகுந்தத் திமையவரோ டிருப்பாரே.
kArArndha thirumEnik kaNNan amarndhu uRaiyumidam sIrArndha pozhilnAngaith thiruththEvanArthogaimEl kUrArndha vERkaliyan kURuthamizh paththumvallAr ErArndha vaigundhaththu imaiyavarOdu iruppArE.
Concluding verse: Those who are able to recite these ten Tamil verses, composed by Kaliyan (Thirumangai Alvar) of the sharp spear, upon Thiru Devanar Thogai in the beautiful groves of Nangai — the abode where Kannan of the dark, cloud-hued sacred form graciously resides — shall dwell in glorious Vaikuntha together with the ever-radiant celestials (nityasuris).
